What is Shepherd Community Center?
Shepherd Community Center works with neighborhood youth and their families “to break the cycle of poverty on the near Eastside of Indianapolis by engaging and empowering the community to cultivate healthy children, strong families, and vibrant neighborhoods through a Christ-centered approach that meets the spiritual, physical, emotional, and academic needs of our neighbors.” Watch a video to learn more.

Our Ministries
The mission of our ministries is to break the cycle of poverty on the near Eastside of Indianapolis by engaging and empowering the community to cultivate healthy children, strong families, and vibrant neighborhoods through a Christ-centered approach that meets the physical, emotional, spiritual, and academic needs of our neighbors.
Academic Ministries
The Shepherd Academy provides our families a healthy alternative to area public schools, offering small class sizes, personalized instruction, and the ability to better meet each child’s academic needs.

Family/Neighborhood Ministries
When the Shepherd Academy began in 2000, we served 12 three- and four-year-olds. Today, we serve over 150 children in Pre-School through fifth grade.

Student Ministries
Throughout the year, the Shepherd staff takes on the challenge of filling the children’s memories with nothing but positive, uplifting events, like: traveling to the zoo, greeting them with a hug, eating two meals a day, and teaching them that Christ loves them.
