When the Shepherd Academy began in 2000, we served 12 three- and four-year-olds. Today, we serve over 150 children in Pre-School through fifth grade. The Shepherd Academy provides our families a healthy alternative to area public schools, offering small class sizes, personalized instruction, and the ability to better meet each child’s academic needs. Additionally, each child receives a healthy breakfast and lunch – something many children in our area cannot count on at home.
An exciting change happened for our Academy during the spring of 2012. Shepherd partnered with Horizon Christian School, who had a vision for education in the city. This partnership allowed Shepherd to expand programming as well as become a fully-accredited educational institution, providing our families with access to quality, Christian education when they leave Shepherd.
Our school seeks to provide a loving and supportive educational environment where each child’s physical, emotional, academic, and spiritual needs are nurtured. We use a variety of faith-based curriculums (A-BEKA) to help ensure that our students learn to read and build a solid foundation for a successful academic career.
