Volunteers are the livelihood of Shepherd Community Center, and we depend on them daily to keep our programs running smoothly and effectively!
Shepherd Community Center desires to provide a variety of opportunities for individuals, organizations, families, churches and the community to use their gifts and resources to assist the Shepherd staff in breaking the cycle of poverty on the near east side of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Please explore the links to the left to find out about our current needs, which are updated on a regular basis, as well as our upcoming special events. There is also a Volunteer FAQ page which is designed to help familiarize you with our volunteer process.
Here’s what some of our volunteers have said about their experience at Shepherd:
“When I first got involved with Shepherd, I did not realize how self-serving I had become, or how serving others would change my life. Through interacting with the kids and people at Shepherd, and seeing how just a little time and care could make a huge difference, I realized that we all have something that we can give. One thing that I've always thought is that people use the excuses that, I will do it sometime or that somebody else will do it. For me I was that somebody and today was the time.” – Duane S.
“Serving at Shepherd has been a highlight in my life. Getting to know the families there has changed my perspective on what is important in my life and they have allowed me to be a part of something so much bigger. They have given me more than I could have ever given to them.” - Susie B.
"The relationships that we build with these young adults are priceless. Their willingness to open up to you and allow you to be a part of their life is amazing. The community of students, leaders, and volunteers at Shepherd really embodies the power of Christ, not to mention that it's always a blast to hang out with them."
– Tim W.
Thank you once again for considering Shepherd Community as a ministry partner. Together, we can break the cycle of poverty!
