Intern—Youth Job Preparedness Program (High School)
Program Description
This program for high school students focuses on:
- Career research
- Local business field trips
- Community service
- Job training
- Tutoring
- College exploration
- Spiritual development
Camp participants also receive: lunch, afternoon snacks, back-to-school clothes, shoes, and school supplies.
Typical Weekly Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 10:00am-5:30 pm; Wednesday 10:00 AM-8:00 PM (including Church). Times may vary.
Intern Responsibilities:
- Attend training during the first week and help with program set up.
- Supervise two field trips each week to either businesses or colleges.
- Supervise students during their community service or paid work.
- Prepare and teach two class times each week using the Real Game Curriculum.
- Help in the teaching of other topics such as: resumes, budgeting, interviewing; what it takes to find, get and keep a job; financial training; college prep, work ethic, etc.
- Facilitate two service projects during the summer
- Facilitate three parents nights, which include seminar-type presentations on different subjects.
- Prepare and teach five Wednesday night Bible Studies for the church youth group.
- Chaperone a one-week off-site education and recreational field trip.
