Sports / Jireh

sports 3“The Shepherd-Jireh merger is a win-win. It will expand the reach of the innovative youth programming of Jireh, ensuring that more low-income youth have first-rate opportunities to participate in a sports program that deals not just with their physical strength, but provides emotional and spiritual nurture. Meanwhile, kids formerly served by Jireh alone will enjoy new, enlarged opportunities at Shepherd. Together, these two ministries will do a better job of reaching more kids, more holistically, than they could alone.”

-Dr. Amy L. Sherman
Senior Fellow,
Sagamore Institute for Policy Research
Director of the Center on Faith in Communities

sports 2As a ministry of Shepherd Community Center, Jireh Sports continues to operate alternative sports programs which instill a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, provide a discipleship environment with a caring adult, and provide access to fun, challenging sports which require discipline and hard work.

Shepherd’s Continuum of Care provides vital resources to this poverty-stricken and often violent area. With access to our food programs, free health clinic, adult employment programs, and counseling, we are strengthening the Near Eastside of Indianapolis.

New things are always happening at Jireh, and the latest thing to join our line-up is Turbo Kick. Renovations and expansions are on the drawing board and many exciting possibilities are on the horizon as we expand. Currently, we're offering the following sports programs:

The Jireh Sports 2011 Fall Schedule
