Middle School
After School
Shepherd staff and volunteers lead this program which includes around twenty seventh- and eighth-grade students. Most students are picked up at school and returned home in the evening once the program has concluded. During the program students come together and have dinner, bible study, homework time, and clubs such as:
- Sewing
- Jewelry making
- Science
- Cooking class
- Electronics
- Reading with the first and second graders
- Scrapbooking
- Sports (soccer, running, kickball)
- Crafts
- Music lessons (pan’s, piano and guitar)
Summer EXCEL Program
The summer is full of fun activities for our middle school students. Breakfast and lunch are always provided during the summer. An eight week program jammed pack with trips, bible studies, and educational workshops that offer a wide variety to make any summer fun and other activities such as:
- Week long camp at Springhill-Seymour, IN
- Economics Financial Class
- Raising chickens
- Travel to a horse farm once a week
- Camptown- Wilderness Adventure Group that takes the kids on a day hike and a canoeing trip while teaching them team building and positive character traits.
- 2-3 hours of work each week with a dedicated amount of money being put into a savings account
- Swimming once a week
- An academic class once a week
- 3 college visits
- Philanthropy project
Special thanks to YJPP, a youth organization, that funds some of the summer activities as well as assistance in providing resources and help in coordinating a few of the trips.
