In-kind donations

Friday, September 26th, 2008

During these days of such economic uncertainty, we recognize how hard these days are for us all. We are having record numbers of people coming to us for help. We have expanded, yet it is not enough. I don’t normally do this, but want to give you some creative ways to help…

Could you donate:

  • construction paper
  • bicycle racks (2)
  • 6 foot folding tables
  • individual fruit drinks
  • craft supplies

Yes, there are more items we can use, but donating these items we need can make a big difference.

Help us help others.

Remember

Friday, September 12th, 2008

It was just last summer, with 45 or so students from Shepherd Community, I stood at the location where flight 93 went down in Pennsylvania. I remember the impact it had on all of us. The reverence to such a special place. A reminder to us all that heroes happen in real life, not just cartoons.

The stories of so many that came out from that day that is etched in all our minds. The day we were changed.

I think of the story that is not remembered by the Fellowship of the Red Bandana.

I think of the works from those on Flight 93, “Let’s roll.”

I think of the countless men and women who rushed into burning buildings, while everyone else rushed out.

Let the reminder of that day be the impetus to drive us to make it our life style to “lay down our life for our neighbor,” each and every day. These heroes who lost their lives can be best remembered by living the same life they lived. Service to others. Live it and we can end poverty. Forget it, and we mire in poverty that rips out the heart of who we are.

Go and serve… and remember.
