Yes, even at Shepherd we have long meetings to discuss our budget. I am reminding in these meetings that we are not talking about “cost centers” or “debits and credits,” but real people who have names and faces.

These have been tough economic times, yet we at Shepherd are working to be good stewards of what you have invested in the lives of those we serve. We recognize it is not our money and we must be the best stewards of all we have.

Let me share some exciting news… our budget this year, starting September 1, will be about $4.1 million dollars. Ten years ago it was only $100,000. This year we served 1,737 individuals. This next year we will serve 3,669. It cost us $1,621 per person served. This next year it will cost us $1,081. The cost goes down and the people served goes up!!! What great news. And we serve our people with a deeper level of services.
