Tired.

Saturday, June 21st, 2008

Yep, I am tired, but what a week. A group of 110 from Calvary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, North Carolina have been serving here in our neighborhood. What a week it has been. They have swamped our neighborhood with God’s love. They have served in so many ways. Yet, today they leave to go home, and my prayer is they go home changed. They have been a super addition to our ministry this week.

Tomorrow we leave on a trip with our middle and high schoolers. Stay in touch, as I will be sending a blog each day. Each day you will get to hear from the specialness that is this week. This will be our third year to go. So tomorrow afternoon we are off to Atlanta, Georgia. We are looking forward as we live together for seven days. It is a great week. Say a pray for us that it will be a week we can really invest into the life of those we serve.

Have a great day…and stay tuned!

Time to celebrate

Saturday, June 7th, 2008

This past Sunday I celebrated two of our students graduations, one from high school and one from college. This is truly a time to celebrate. This is a time for us to recognize this important step in breaking the cycle of poverty.

I look to the future and see so many more students coming down the pike of graduation, both college and high school. I recognize the great work that so many of our staff do to make a difference. That work paid off.

There are many who invest in the lives of those we serve, they are seeing the return on their investment.

I smile because a life, and many others have been impacted and changed. There is Hope… and we need to share it.
