OK, I am a klutz…
Monday, May 5th, 2008For those who know me, they know I am a klutz. There isn’t a medical procedure that I haven’t had done. I am an orthopedic Doctor’s dream. I put their kids thru college and pay for their weddings. So it is no surprise, while walking at a college I missed a step and found out your foot can be bent in the shape of a U. Now, I do not recommend doing this. As I now have a sprained ankle, that makes me walk like Festus on “Gunsmoke”.
But a remarkable thing… I have access to doctors, hospitals, xrays and more… yet many in my neighborhood have no access to what I do. Some with serious health issues cannot have them solved quickly or easily. That is one of the reasons why Shepherd is expanding our clinic to include health literacy and health advocacy. We are trying to help those we serve access what they can and know how to be healthy. Thanks to those who help us do that.
So as I sit here with ice on my ankle, I am thankful for what I do have… access to healthcare, and the drive to make it available to my whole neighborhood.
Carpe Diem,
