Four

Saturday, January 26th, 2008

Yep, four, and I am so excited!!! I took four students to take the SAT this morning. Another step towards helping break the cycle of poverty.

Education is such a key. It is one of the critical aspects towards these students realizing their God-given potential. And so today I celebrate these four preparing for the next step. I celebrate these four arriving at a critical juncture of their life.

I am thankful for the many who support Shepherd to make it possible for us to help these students, and their families, get them to this point. THANKS, and you too can celebrate today.

But we are not done at four and will continue pushing more on. Helping break the cycle of poverty… it is not just a slogan, but a promise.

Carpe diem,

It is not enough

Monday, January 14th, 2008

The many good things we do at Shepherd are not enough! So you ask, what do I mean? Well, we have many great programs and great staff and volunteers, but how can we be sure we are breaking the cycle of poverty?

Starting in January we are embarking on a journey to work with a great computer company, Ambassador Solutions, and a super partner Sagamore Institute (Dr. Amy Sherman) to define what we mean by saying, “Helping families break the cycle of poverty.” So let’s define it first, then we measure our success to that.

Yes, we are probably breaking ground, but we are desperate to accomplish what we say, because we want to help families….break the cycle of poverty. We do that, and we change our neighborhood. More will be coming on this project. Soon you will be able to go to our website and see how we are doing. Those who invest into lives through Shepherd Community should know how their investment is doing.

Living, working, worshiping here….we develop a passion for this great neighborhood.

Carpe Diem
