Sept 11th

Wednesday, September 12th, 2007

Yesterday, my mind went back to six years ago. It is hard to believe that it has been that long. Six years… Wow, I am sure you remember where you were.

Shepherd was doing a radio-thon with a former station, Love 98. As soon as the reality of the horror hit, we closed the show with prayer and ended it that day. I was glued to the TV, computer, whatever to hear what was happening.

This year is was a bit more impactful for me. This past summer, our teen trip had stopped in Shanksville, PA at the location where Flight 93 went down. Standing there and gazing at the site was so humbling.

I am spurred to remember the many stories of individuals who reacted and helped. America has been made the nation it is because individuals accepted responsibility and made a difference. Sept. 11 reminds me and challenges me to continue those efforts.

Make a difference today, and remember to say thanks for those who already did for us.

Celebrating a Super Bowl victory

Tuesday, September 4th, 2007

In the age where we read about the horrible choices of pro-athletes, let me tell you another great story of Super Bowl victors, The Indianapolis Colts safety Bob Sanders.

He responded to the need to help countless number of students with school uniforms. Sunday night he took 25 of our students shopping for new clothes. His agreement to come speak with the kids and shop for a little while turned into 3 1/2 hours of investing in these students. He explained to them that football did not define him. He took time to answer all their questions, to speak with them individually, and to encourage them to stay in school.

He was, and will continue to be a great model to all these students! That is a true champion. Hopefully soon we will get the pictures up so you can see.

We still could use some help for the uniforms, email with any questions or thoughts.

Carpe Diem

Jay
